Good Grit is a lifestyle magazine that focuses on southern culture. This is a two full spread illustration about Magnolia Mothers, a Jackson, MS based non-profit’s commitment to helping black mothers escape poverty.

I wanted to incorporate distinct Mississippi imagery (magnolias, regal wallpaper, & the state’s butterfly) with a sense of dignity and strength mother’s have. The idea is by helping mothers in the state today this organization can end generational poverty.
