When the Creative Director for Good Grit reached out above a more collaged cover design for their “Awaken” issue, I was thrilled! This cover features the famous Mississippi chef Vishwesh Bhatt, and they wanted a design that tied in elements of both place and food. Included in this eclectic, collaged piece are magnolias, okra, the capital building of Oxford, MS, patterns reminiscent of both India (birthplace of the chef) and Mississippi.

I started with two potential sketches, and once they chose Sketch B, we moved forward with collaborating on various details. It was such a joy to create my first cover with them!
